What makes TriSano® unique?

TriSano® is built on the vision of the local, state and federal public health advocates need for a single application that allows for surveillance and outbreak management for infectious disease, environmental hazards and bioterrorism attacks.  The Subject Matter Expert members of the core team define the features of the application and prioritizes those features on the roadmap.  Subject Matter Experts work in partnership with developers as one core team to deliver against this vision and strategy.

How do I customize TriSano® to work in my Jurisdiction?

TriSano® is designed to be easily customized to meet the needs of diverse jurisdictions.  TriSano® is built through the collaboration of subject matter experts in the field of epidemiology, informatics, public health and software development.  This core team continues to guide the development of TriSano® with an eye towards modularity and flexibility.

TriSano®‘s unique flexible form builder and role-based routing features are examples of how diverse jurisdictions can customize this application.  The flexible form builder enables jurisdictions to build web forms state wide or build targeted forms to their specific needs. Public health officials can input data in a standard form or create forms on demand as needed.  In addition, role-based routing can be configured to support the unique business processes of the jurisdiction, cases can routed to the right person based on that person’s role/ permission level.

How can my state/jurisdiction benefit from open source software?

Cost - In terms of cost, open source software saves money by eliminating the need to pay any type of license fee including upgrade fees.

Stability - The stability of TriSano® comes from collaborators participating in the processes of improvement, adaptation and testing of the software.  There is an inherent rapid time to fix and meet requested changes.

Security - With the ability to see and alter, the peer review process of source code becomes more efficient and inherently more secure.  The source code is open; hence it will be exposed to on-going security testing.

How do I get support for TriSano®?

TriSano® is licensed under an open source license which provides access to the application and source code free of charge.  Like most open source applications, there are choices for support.  Because the source code is free of charge, self support is one option.  If the jurisdiction or state is going to use TriSano® in a production environment, Collaborative Software Initiative provides support to meet the enterprise level needs.

What is the Collaborative Software Foundation?

The Collaborative Software Foundation is the nonprofit arm of Collaborative Software Initiative.  Specifically the Foundation is the holder of intellectual property associated with the TriSano® project. The Collaborative Software Foundation provides users of TriSano® the assurance the source code will always be available.
